Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT) handled 99,583 passengers in July 2026, the busiest single month in the airport's history.

The airport announced the milestone on X on Aug. 27. The record month caps a streak of growth at ICT. Both the first and second quarters of 2026 individually set new quarterly passenger records, making the first half of the year the strongest six-month period ever recorded at the airport, according to an Aug. 3 airport press release.

"Breaking one quarterly record is exciting. Breaking two in a row demonstrates that this is more than a temporary trend … The continued growth at ICT reflects the strength of our community and our region's economy," Jesse Romo, director of airports, said in that Aug. 3 release.

The run builds on a record-setting 2025. ICT served more than 1.8 million total passengers last year, a 3.24% year-over-year increase, according to city records. Enplanements rose 3.13% to 935,512.

Demand showed up beyond the gates, too. Food and gift sales at the airport jumped 13.32% in 2025, car rental revenue increased 0.99% and parking revenue rose 2.61%.

Six airlines serve ICT: Alaska Air, Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest Airlines and United. Southwest announced on July 16 that it will add nonstop service between Wichita and Nashville International Airport beginning in March 2027, according to a city announcement.

Terminal construction at ICT continues, with work focused on adding capacity. Average airfare at the airport in 2025 was $430.40, which was 11% above the national average but 1.27% below Tulsa's.

Southwest's Nashville route is scheduled to begin in March 2027, giving Wichita travelers a sixth nonstop destination on the carrier.
