Second downtown incident in 24 hours
The cutting marks the second violent incident to critically injure someone in the downtown Wichita corridor within roughly 24 hours.
On Sunday, Aug. 16, a white Ford Mustang struck two pedestrians on East Douglas Avenue just before midnight, leaving a 67-year-old Marion man and a 61-year-old Bel Aire woman in critical but stable condition. That crash occurred less than a mile south of where the Monday cutting took place.
The 800 block of North Main Street sits in the heart of downtown Wichita, an area that includes restaurants, bars and residential buildings near Old Town. The intersection of Main and Murdock is a well-traveled stretch for both vehicle and foot traffic during evening hours.
Police have not indicated whether the two incidents are connected in any way.
