A former Wichita softball coach accused of sexually assaulting a player between 2021 and 2024 will stand trial Jan. 4, 2027 in Sedgwick County District Court.
Savana King pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing Aug. 27. She is charged with criminal sodomy with a child between 14 and 16 years old. She also faces two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under 14.
The Wichita Police Department began investigating King in January 2025 after a woman, then 18, reported the alleged crimes. She told police King had sexually assaulted her over several years, between 2021 and 2024, before she reached the age of consent, according to KSN.
The alleged victim was a player King coached. The specific softball organization has not been publicly identified.
Police arrested King on Feb. 7, 2025. She has been out of jail on a $250,000 bond since that arrest.
No statements from the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office, King's defense attorney, or the Wichita Police Department were available in public reporting as of Thursday.
King faces the charges as allegations. She has not been convicted.
Her bond remains set at $250,000.
