Two Wichita men are charged with murder in the 2019 shooting death of Charles "Chuck" Giles, the owner of Neighbors Bar and Grill on West 21st Street.

Benny Delgado, 36, and Jesus Deleon, 27, were arrested Monday, Sept. 28, on charges of premeditated first-degree murder, first-degree murder in the commission of a felony, aggravated robbery and criminal discharge of a firearm, according to the WPD media advisory. The Active Age first reported the arrests.

Giles, 55, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 2100 block of West Columbine Lane on July 19, 2019, after officers responded to a shooting call. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said at the time that one or more people approached Giles after he pulled into his driveway around 10:20 p.m. that evening, the Wichita Eagle reported. The attackers opened fire, striking Giles several times and shattering the driver's side of his windshield. Investigators determined he had been robbed and called the attack targeted.

The case went cold.

Detectives pursued leads during the initial investigation but made no arrests, according to the Wichita Police Department (WPD). In July 2026, WPD homicide investigators revisited the case and developed new leads, including the identification of two suspects. The results were presented to Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett on Friday, Sept. 25. Formal charges and arrest warrants were filed Monday morning in Sedgwick County District Court.

Officers moved quickly once the warrants were in hand. At about 11 a.m. Monday, police spotted one of the suspects entering a business in the 5700 block of North Hydraulic. When officers tried to enter, offsite management refused them access, according to the WPD. Officers set up a perimeter and obtained a search warrant. They entered the building and took the suspect into custody at 12:59 p.m. without incident.

KSN reported the location was near 53rd Street and Hydraulic Avenue in Park City. Park City police urged drivers to avoid the area during the operation. Police did not say how the second suspect was arrested.

"Seven years is a long time for a family to wait for answers and accountability," Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said in a statement. "Our detectives never lost sight of Charles Giles or the people who loved him."

Bennett called the arrests "the result of years of determined work by the investigators at the WPD," KWCH reported.

Delgado has a lengthy criminal record. He pleaded guilty in 2009 to six counts of theft, five counts of burglary and criminal damage, according to KWCH. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.

Both men are expected to make their first court appearance Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Sedgwick County District Court.
