Four shutouts swept through the City League on Friday, Sept. 25, as Week 4 delivered lopsided results across Wichita-area high school football.

Andover added a 76-42 shootout win over Arkansas City in AV-CTL Division II play, producing the highest-scoring game of the night with 118 combined points, according to the Wichita Eagle.

Bishop Carroll rolls to 4-0

Bishop Carroll's 49-0 rout of Wichita South was the most emphatic result. The Golden Eagles, ranked No. 4 in Class 5A by the Eagle entering the week, improved to 4-0 under second-year coach Chris Jaax.

Senior offensive lineman Sean Armbistier captured the team's early-season mindset in an Aug. 21 preseason interview with Catch It Kansas: "I think there's a lot of excitement and there's a lot of confidence to compete at the high level that Bishop Carroll football is expected to."

Northwest shuts out East

Wichita Northwest blanked Wichita East 24-0, improving to 2-2. East, which entered the game at 2-1, dropped to 2-2. Both teams had been listed among the "first five out" of the Eagle's Class 6A rankings before the game.

Manhattan hammers North, 70-6

Manhattan, ranked No. 3 in Class 6A, beat Wichita North 70-6. North fell to 0-4 under first-year coach Lee Weber. The Redhawks went 0-9 last season, outscored 546-20, according to the Eagle's preseason predictions.

Kapaun, Southeast complete the sweep

Kapaun Mt. Carmel stayed unbeaten at 4-0 with a 47-0 win over Wichita Heights. Southeast handled West 62-0.

Andover lights up Arkansas City

The night's wildest game belonged to Andover, which beat Arkansas City 76-42. The Trojans, ranked No. 7 in Class 5A, improved to 4-0. Andover is the defending AV-CTL Division II champion and returned QB Will Quinn, RB Pete Vega and Oklahoma commit Tyson Ross, according to the Eagle's preseason preview.

Ross told KWCH on Aug. 27 he wanted a "different approach" this season, saying the Trojans were "coming for it all."

AV-CTL Division I and II

Maize South beat Andover Central 35-14 in AV-CTL Division I, and Hutchinson topped Campus 43-13. In Division II, Goddard edged Newton 28-21 and Salina South beat Valley Center 40-12.
