Wichita firefighters responded to a structure fire at 620 S. Washington on Aug. 31, near the intersection of Kellogg and Washington.

Crews arrived to find fire coming from the building, KWCH reported. Smoke was visible on the station's Capitol Federal Skycam. No injuries had been reported at the time of the station's initial broadcast.

The address is listed as the location of Mountainland Supply of Wichita, a wholesale plumbing, waterworks, HVAC and irrigation supplier, according to the Wichita Chamber of Commerce and multiple business directories. The chamber listing names Zach Hooper as branch manager. The company has been employee-owned since 2018 and traces its origins to 1947 in Utah, according to its LinkedIn page. It now operates in seven states.

The Wichita Fire Department had not released a statement on the fire's cause, the extent of damage or whether the building was occupied at the time of the blaze as of Monday.

Monday's fire adds to a busy stretch for Wichita firefighters. A fatal house fire on Aug. 10 in southwest Wichita killed Edward and Susan Perry, both 61. The Wichita Eagle reported that the department's response to that fire was slower than the national standard of four minutes. The Eagle's analysis found that 37% of the city's land area falls outside that four-minute benchmark.

This is a developing story. The cause of Monday's fire at 620 S. Washington remains under investigation. Residents with information can contact the Wichita Fire Department.
