Nathan Alexander Hurst, 28, of Deer Park, Texas, is in the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of rape and multiple sex crimes allegedly committed against a child younger than 14.

KWCH first reported that court records show Hurst faces four charges: rape, aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated criminal sodomy. The crimes were allegedly committed in Sedgwick County between June 2024 and September 2025.

His bond is set at $250,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.

Booking information from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office lists Hurst's address in Deer Park, Texas. Records also show Hurst previously faced a drug possession charge in Sedgwick County in September 2025 and has a juvenile criminal record from the summer of 2015. The disposition of the drug charge was not available in court records reviewed by KWCH.

Under Kansas law, the rape, aggravated indecent liberties and aggravated criminal sodomy charges are each classified as off-grid person felonies when the alleged victim is younger than 14 and the accused is 18 or older. That designation means the charges fall outside the state's standard sentencing grid. A conviction on any one of those three counts carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a maximum of life, according to Kansas law as compiled by RAINN. Fines can reach $500,000 per count.

Kansas law also requires anyone convicted of rape, indecent liberties with a child, criminal sodomy or indecent solicitation of a child to register as a sex offender. Registration periods range from 15 years to life, depending on the offense.

No statement from the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office or from an attorney representing Hurst was available as of Sept. 3. The allegations against Hurst have not been tested in court.
