Five festivals land in Wichita the same weekend, giving residents a packed schedule of live music, chili, jousting and 500 drones lighting up the sky over the Arkansas River.

The lineup runs Sept. 25 through Sept. 27 spread across downtown and Sedgwick County Park. Visit Wichita's guide maps out how to hit all five events.

Somewhere Fest

The two-day music festival takes over St. Francis Street in downtown Wichita on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26. Friday's headliners include Bailey Zimmerman, DJ Diesel and Ian Munsick. Saturday brings ERNEST, Two Friends and Bob Moses across six stages.

Adam Hartke co-organized the 2026 edition with Breakaway Festival after the event moved from June to September, according to Shout Wichita. Two of the six stages require paid admission. A "Some One" stage spotlights local performers. General admission two-day passes are $133.

The city calendar shows a street closure on St. Francis Avenue from 1st Street North to 3rd Street North running Sept. 24 through Sept. 27. The food area across from WAVE opens 4 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Kansas Railfest

Railfest runs Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Plains Transportation Museum, 700 E. Douglas Ave. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 4 to 12 and free for children 3 and under with an adult, according to Wichita by EB. Expect historic locomotives, toy train displays, short train rides, music, a food truck and shaved ice.

Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff

More than 70 chili teams set up at Naftzger Park and surrounding downtown streets Sept. 26 from noon to 4 p.m., according to TravelKS. Tasting kits cost $5. The cookoff, a Wichita tradition for more than 30 years, also features live music and a pepper-eating contest. Organizers expect more than 10,000 people, according to the Visit Wichita event page.

Railfest and the cookoff are within walking distance of each other downtown.

Fall Great Plains Renaissance Festival

Knights, jousters, fire breathers, bagpipers and artisan vendors take over Sedgwick County Park on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The park is about a 15-minute drive from downtown, according to Visit Wichita. Scottish Highland games are also on the schedule, according to TravelKS.

Drone Light Festival

Exploration Place hosts its Drone Light Festival all three nights, Friday through Sunday, at 300 N. McLean Blvd. The show features 500 synchronized drones, 100 more than the previous year, accompanied by a live string quartet. New pyro drones debut this year.

The Sunday show runs 6 to 10 p.m. Residents can watch the drones for free from the riverbank near the Keeper of the Plains. A paid ticket covers the full festival experience at Exploration Place, including activities and food.

Visit Wichita recommends buying tickets in advance for Somewhere Fest, the Renaissance Festival and the Drone Light Festival.
